Ok. So.
Waxing and sugaring are the same process. And frankly, laser hair removal is roughly the same process, too. It’s only the technology/method that are different.
Let me explain.
For purposes of this discussion, let’s assume you’re getting your middle bits hair removed - Whether that’s a bikini level or Brazilian level of hair is up to you.
When you arrive for an appointment, you’ll be shown to a room and asked to change out of your pants and into something more accessible. If you’re getting a bikini, you might be given disposable undies. Or you may be shown into the room and expected to get fully dressed from the waist down. If so, there often will be a hand towel or similar to use as a modesty blanket for the service.
There will be a massage or spa table for you to lay down.
Once you’re situated, the provider will cleanse the area with an antiseptic solution. This will remove any oils or lotions or sweat/impurities you may have lingering on your skin; these often impact the efficacy of the products and so need to be removed.
After cleansing, the provider will get you going into the hair removal square of the process. It’ll be the mechanism you selected or paid for - sugar, wax, or even laser or electrolysis.
You can expect some sort of routine pattern of application to emerge in this step. Once you’ve been through the process a couple times, you should be able to notice any difference in approach or steps in the procedure. Make sure your provider covers the same amount of area on subsequent visits, or you may see a decline in effectiveness or an increase in the rate of hair growth.
When the hair is all gone and you’re satisfied with the look of the service, you will experience the closing of the service. It’s usually a spray toner and a bit of moisturizer to seal the area. You also may receive a warm/wet towel to cleanse yourself with afterward.
With the “closing of the service” complete, the provider will step aside or leave the room for you to get dressed.
Payment and rebooking typically occurs once both parties are out of the treatment room and on their way to the next part of their days.
You’ll need to plan your visit timing based on things like your schedule, your age, and your desired frequency. (See here for guidance on how often to get a Brazilian.) Other service timing may vary - check the Regrowth Roadmap for information on other body parts.
Next visit? Different provider? Same process. Or at least it should be. If not, or if they skip steps/don’t have a set routine from visit to visit, then you may want to consider monitoring your results and making sure they’re the right provider for you.
Happy Friday -
